About Me

¡Bienvenidos!

Welcome!

I'm Katie and this blog started out as a means to send updates and prayer requests back to loved ones in the U.S. while I lived and worked in the jungles of Ecuador.

I lived my life-long and God-given dream by working as an English teacher at Antioch Christian Academy, a school that is part of an organization called Jungle Kids for Christ (JKC). The goal of this organization is to empower children with education and the gospel to bring light back to their home communities. In my role I taught English to my amazing students and walked alongside new English teacher mentoring them in the challenges of classroom ministry.

I did that for 4 years (2021-25).

And then the Lord called me to return to the U.S.

After a season of painful goodbyes, I made my way back to West MI, unsure where the Lord would have me and for how long.

I began working at Alpha Grand Rapids, a local pregnancy resource center, as the coordinator of their Educational Services. I now work with clients, connecting them to the classes and support groups, as well as the volunteers that run said classes and groups. It has been a joy to join this organization as a way for my teacher-heart to continue working with students and my Ecuador-heart to continue using my Spanish with our Spanish-speaking clientele.

So, here I am.

This blog has become not only a means of communication but also of commemorating and sharing the testimony the Lord has given me. I may no longer be working in the jungle, but the Lord is still at work in my life and I would love to share that with anyone who might be inspired by it. I pray you find my perspective of life and interpretation of Scripture to encourage you in your own life-walk.

I would love to hear from you to make this conversation two-sided, so I invite you to reach out to me either through the blog's contact feature or to me directly if you have that information.

To stay updated, you can sign up to receive emails whenever I post or you can just check the page periodically. I try to post once every month. Or two. Or three...

Thank you in advance for your time and your prayers. It is such an encouragement to know I have people around me, ready to pray when needed. Please don't hesitate to reach out to me if you find yourself wanting someone to join you in prayer over something in your life. We were not made to walk alone.

¡Bendiciones!

-Katie
